Job Opening: Email Marketing Strategist (Independent contractor/Freelance)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Email Marketing Startegist to join our team at Erotics of Liberation as a remote freelancer/independent contractor . This role is pivotal in shaping and executing our content and organic marketing strategies, ensuring alignment with Erotics of Liberation’s overarching goals.

The job

Location: Remote/freelancer/independent contractor | Start: Summer 2025

Reports to: Founder & CEO, Care (Erotics of Liberation)

We are looking for a bold, emotionally intelligent, and data-literate Email Marketing Strategist to work with Erotics of Liberation—a Black, trans, queer-led platform devoted to abolitionist intimacy, collective healing, and liberatory relationships.

This role is not just about sending newsletters. It’s about shaping story arcs, nurturing relational trust, and weaving strategy with soul. You’ll lead our email content ecosystem—from ideation and audience segmentation to analysis and optimization—ensuring that each message lands with clarity, resonance, and precision.

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Email Marketing Strategist to join our growing team. This role is pivotal in shaping and executing our content and organic marketing strategies, ensuring alignment with our company’s overarching goals. The Email Marketing Strategist will collaborate with the Founder and CEO of Erotics of Liberation, Care, to plan, ideate, and implement growth strategies.

About us

  • Erotics of Liberation is a Black, trans, queer feminist-led team on a mission to support everyone access safety, dignity, belonging. We believe that abolition is the only tool for collective healing and liberation, and that abolition is relational practice, meaning that we need to practice abolition in our relationships, first.

  • We start within, by prioritizing our team’s wellbeing with a salary that allows you to live in dignity (depending on where you live), and we believe that you being in your creative genius is the best (if not only) way for you to be thriving in your job.

  • We also believe in mutual aid as a practice and give 5% of all our company’s revenue directly to Black and Trans folks via We Take Care of We Fund, a Fund organized by Erotics of Liberation to support them financially.

  • Currently, Care is working with 2 team members on their 1-year long program called Liberation Practice Field (LPF): Jess Davidson (she/her), the project manager of LPF, and Nike Aurea, the community manager of the program. You will work with them when you will be working on LPF specifically, as well as workshops Care organizes outside of LPF.

What you’ll Do

Write engaging, value-driven email newsletters (both regular and campaign-based) in our brand voice.

Draft, edit, and publish Substack posts or other long-form thought pieces.

Turn podcast episodes into written blog posts, with SEO-friendly titles and summaries.

Write original, evergreen blog content to position us as thought leaders in our space.

Create show notes, episode descriptions, and promotional emails for podcast episodes.

Maintain a long-form content calendar, suggesting topics and keeping deadlines on track.

Ensure all written content aligns with brand tone, voice, and values.

Current Priorities (For now, part time: 15 hours per month)

  • Write and send weekly email newsletter (short and sweet, via platforms like Mailchimp, ConvertKit, etc.)

  • Draft, edit, and publish Substack newsletter (longer form, twice a month)

Future Priorities (when full time)

  • Turn podcast episodes into written blog posts, with SEO-friendly titles and summaries

  • Write show notes and episode descriptions for each podcast episode

Collaboration & Workflow

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with VA and team

  • Attend a monthly check-in meeting to align on current priorities

Your Skills

  • Email Content Strategy

    Craft and evolve an email marketing strategy that reflects our brand voice and long-term goals. Design thoughtful sequences and campaigns that serve our people, not sell to them.

    What if our KPIs were not about how many things we sold, but how well we served our communities?

  • Content Creation & Collaboration

    Lead the ideation, drafting, and editing of newsletters, Substack essays, blogs, and occasional whitepapers in collaboration with the Founder. Shape ideas into accessible, values-aligned content that inspires, informs, and builds trust.

  • Lifecycle & Journey Mapping

    Segment audiences and build sequences tailored to different phases of the reader's journey—onboarding, deepening engagement, sales, follow-up, and re-engagement—ensuring all communications feel consistent and relational.

  • Analytics & Optimization

    Monitor performance KPIs (CTR, open rates, conversions), conduct A/B testing, and bring thoughtful, non-hustle-based iteration to content strategy based on real-time feedback and behavioral insights.

  • Innovation & Trendspotting

    Stay attuned to evolving email marketing trends, privacy laws, ethical marketing practices, and new technologies to help keep Erotics of Liberation ahead of the curve.

Who you Are

  • A freelancer/independent contractor who can invoice Erotics of Liberation

  • A strategic thinker with a strong backbone in content and audience psychology.

  • An excellent writer + editor who understands how to bring complex emotional, political, and somatic material into digestible email formats.

  • Experienced in email campaign building and lifecycle mapping in platforms like ConvertKit, Mailchimp, or similar tools.

  • Comfortable working across formats—email, blogs, long-form essays, and thought leadership content like whitepapers.

  • Deeply collaborative with a queer, justice-rooted ethos.

  • Curious and analytical—able to track performance metrics and translate insights into changes with confidence and care.

  • You understand how to build trust and community via email—not just traffic or clicks.

What we offer

The interview process

Location

This position is fully remote.‍

Employment type

Part time (15 to 20 hours per week) that can turn into a full time position (32 hours per week) as an independent contractor.
